Are You Pregnant
And Considering Adoption?

When a woman is considering adoption, it is oftentimes misunderstood. You aren’t giving your child away. You aren’t abandoning them. You are making a plan during an unexpected pregnancy. Choosing life and a family that can care for your child in a way that you are not able to do at this moment is one of the bravest, the most loving choices that a mom can make.

Dealing With An Unexpected Pregnancy

Unexpected pregnancy can be an overwhelming experience. While it can be a happy surprise for some, it can also be a source of stress and worry for others. It's important to talk to family and friends for support, as well as to determine whether considering adoption is the best course of action. Benefits of Adoption

Adoption is a choice of hope. You can choose a family that is ready to parent. You may choose to have ongoing contact with your baby. You are able to move on with your life and focus on your needs. Considering adoption is a wonderful way to give a loving home to a child in need. Adopting can be a fulfilling and rewarding experience for both the adoptee and the adopting family.

Making an Adoption Plan

You choose the family for your baby. You choose the level of contact and communication for the pregnancy and after birth. We will coordinate all hospital details with you, so that you are comfortable. Making a plan can help an unexpectant pregnancy go much smoother by providing a foundation to ensure that the mother and baby are both taken care of and that all of their needs are met.  A plan for adoption may include attending adoption webinars or talking to families who have gone through the adoption process before to gain a better understanding of what adoption entails.

I'm Already Parenting

If you find yourself overwhelmed emotionally, financially, or otherwise and realize you need to make an adoption plan for your child after you’ve gone home from the hospital, you can.

Perhaps your partner is no longer involved or the family support you were promised is just not there, considering adoption is still a choice. Adoption is still an adoption even when the child is older.

We have a program for any child 0-12. If you are not able to parent, we can help you choose a family for your baby or child. The process is much like a newborn adoption. You are still able to make a plan which includes visitation or contact.

Already Parenting Adoption

Older Child Adoption

If you find yourself raising a child with few resources or no support, it is not an easy path. Unfortunately, that is where some parents find themselves. There is no shame in admitting that you need help, life can be hard. If you look at your life and realize it is not the life you want for your child and you want more for them, adoption may be a path to consider. These thoughts aren’t selfish, they are self-less. You are choosing unconditional love when considering adoption. If you need a short term and immediate solution, an organization such as Safe Families, can be a great resource. However, if you know that you cannot appropriately provide and care for your children at this time, making an adoption plan can empower you to make decisions for your family instead of leaving these decisions to DCS or other public authorities.

Making a decision to place a child for adoption during an unexpectant pregnancy is never easy. If you are considering placing an infant, toddler, sibling group or older child, there are things you should first consider. How will your decision affect your children? Will I know if they are ok and happy? If you need resources, we can help you find those, but if deep down you know that choosing a new path for your children is the best option, we can help you find a family. You can continue to be a part of your child’s life through pictures and letters and in some situations, even visits. This is a delicate process that requires finding the right family and transitioning at the right pace. By considering adoption, you allow a child to find a forever family without the torment of being shuffled from house to house and 2 years of court battles in foster care. You have the right to choose a home for your child and Tapestry’s ReWoven program may be a great fit for you.

Frequently
Asked Questions

No, we work with expectant moms from all over the United States.

The statistics on teen moms are very said. 25% of women who give birth as a teen will have another baby while they are still a teen. But even worse is that 60% of women who live in poverty were teens when they had their first baby. When we look at poverty in general, 85% of children in poverty were born to teen moms. Adoption is a plan to provide for your baby and break that cycle.

There is definitely grief that can surface after placing a child for adoption. That isn’t always the same as regret. Spending time with your counselor and mentor can help you to identify those feelings. There can also be regret if you choose to parent and realize you don’t have the support that everyone promised. We continue to offer counseling after your placement to help navigate these strong emotions.
